Buying furniture is exciting — but it's also a significant investment. This checklist ensures you make the right decision every time, whether you're furnishing your first apartment or upgrading your forever home.
Measuring Your Space
Before you fall in love with anything, measure everything. Note door widths, hallway turns, ceiling height, and window placement. Create a floor plan with measurements. Check that your elevator, staircase, or front door can accommodate large pieces. Browse our full collection with confidence knowing your dimensions.
Quality Indicators
Look for solid wood frames (not particleboard), kiln-dried hardwoods, dovetail joinery in drawers, and eight-way hand-tied springs in upholstery. Check weight capacity ratings. Read reviews about durability after 6+ months of use.
Fabric and Material Selection
Consider your lifestyle. Have kids or pets? Choose performance fabrics, Crypton upholstery, or leather for easy cleaning. Live in a humid climate? Avoid materials that absorb moisture. Want low maintenance? Look for stain-resistant, fade-resistant options.
Delivery and Assembly
Know what you're signing up for: curbside delivery vs. in-home placement, whether assembly is included, and the delivery timeframe. Some large items require professional assembly — factor that into your budget.
Warranty and Return Policies
Read the fine print. What's covered under warranty? Frame, springs, and mechanisms should have the longest coverage. Understand the return window, restocking fees, and who pays return shipping. At Goldara Interiors, we offer transparent policies so you can shop with peace of mind.
Budget Planning
Invest most in high-use pieces: your sofa, bed, and dining table. Save on accent pieces, side tables, and decor. A good budget split: 40% sofa/seating, 20% bed, 20% dining, 20% accents and storage.
